The Environmental Technologies Development Laboratory (LDTAmb, in Portuguese) is a Research Group aiming at studying the feasibility of Advanced Oxidation Processes (AOP) for degrading waterborne micropollutants.

Those studies may also deal with:  (a) the coupling of AOP to biological treatment processes, (b) the synthesis of new materials, and (c) environmental monitoring.  Whenever necessary, Chemometrics tools are used too (experimental design, HCA, PCA, etc.).

The Group leader is Professor Eduardo Bessa Azevedo.  He graduated from Rio de Janeiro State University (UERJ) twice:  Chemical Enginering and Chemistry Education.  Afterwards, he got M.Sc. and D.Sc. degrees at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) in Chemical Engineering (specifically, Environmental Technology).

Since 1995, he has been teaching chemistry and environment-related courses.  Currently, he works at the Institute of Chemistry of São Carlos (IQSC), University of São Paulo (USP), Brazil.
